CHERYL A. HARRIS

Ms. Harris is the founder and principal attorney of Harris Law, PLLC. She has over 25 years of legal experience, has litigated a variety of cases from inception through trial in the courts of New York, and negotiated hundreds of settlements. She is a former Partner of Heidell Pittioni Murphy & Bach, LLP (HPM&B) where she headed the firm's employment law group, and defended major medical centers in complex high-exposure medical malpractice and products liability litigation, in addition to handling risk management and regulatory matters.

Ms. Harris' practice is focused on the representation of plaintiffs in employment discrimination, complex personal injury, and wrongful death cases. She also represents clients in estate matters, and Surrogate's Court proceedings. Ms. Harris has also represented certain members of the United States Congress before the United States Court of Appeals for The Second Circuit in the "Ground Zero" litigation stemming from the 9/11 attacks. Her years of experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of matters gives her an indispensable understanding of how liability and damages are assessed by institutions and insurance carriers, how juries perceive cases, as well as the factors which lead to the successful resolution of cases, either by settlement or trial.

Ms. Harris is admitted to practice in the State of New York, as well as the Southern and Eastern Districts of the Federal Court in New York. She is also admitted to the United States Court 0f Appeals, Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She is a 1983 graduate of Mount Holyoke College, and received her law degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1986.   

FRANCES L. GARFINKEL

Ms. Garfinkel is Of Counsel to the firm. Fran is an experienced litigator and trial attorney with over 25 years of experience in the areas of Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury. Her experience includes the representation of both plaintiffs and defendants. In addition to private firm experience, Fran also served as a litigator with New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, in the Medical Litigation Unit. In her current practice, she is focused on representing Plaintiff’s in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury in all phases of litigation from discovery through trial.

Ms. Garfinkel is admitted in New York. She is a 1990 graduate of Fordham University School of Law. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. with a specialization in Health Care Administration from Baruch College/Mt. Sinai School of Medicine.

Ms. Garfinkel is a member of the New York County Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association, The Bronx County Bar Association, and The New York Trial Lawyers Association.

ANTHONY M. MARAGNO

Mr. Maragno is Of Counsel to the firm. He is a graduate of Boston College (cum laude, Economics and Mathematics), and Albany Law School (cum laude), and is admitted to practice law in both New York and Florida.

Tony is a skilled litigator and trial attorney who formerly served as an Assistant District attorney in Suffolk County, New York. Tony has over 15 year of experience in the fields of Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury, and has successfully represented both injured persons and medical care providers in complex multi-million dollar cases involving catastrophic injury to infants and adults, and death. He has an extensive knowledge of medical practice issues and standards, and leverages this knowledge and insight in his practice, which focuses exclusively on helping seriously injured individuals and their families obtain just compensation for serious injuries. Tony is involved in all aspects of litigation and settlement negotiations from inception through trial and appeal.

Mr. Maragno is also admitted to practice law in The United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
